Two Days in Avatar’s Wonderland: A Private Tour of Zhangjiajie Peaks
I come from Malaysia. I have long dreamed of seeing the unique quartz sandstone peaks of Zhangjiajie. I have viewed countless photos of misty peaks online and always hoped to step into this fantastic landscape in person. I brought my family for this 2D1N private trip to Zhangjiajie.

1. Cost Guide
I checked multiple travel agencies online for 2D1N private Zhangjiajie tour packages. Most packages were priced at 4200 MYR. Our private tour package costs 3680 MYR, cheaper than online quotes. There is no shopping stop and no hidden charges at all.

Day 1: Yuanjiajie - Tianzi Mountain - 72 Qilou
Arrive in Zhangjiajie, private transfer to Wulingyuan Scenic Area. Take the Bailong Elevator to the mountain top, explore Yuanjiajie and visit Hallelujah Mountain and the First Bridge under Heaven. Afterwards, travel to Tianzi Mountain to admire peaks such as the Imperial Brush Peak. Head down the mountain to check into the hotel in the evening, then visit 72 Qilou to enjoy the night light show. We balanced mountain scenery and night sightseeing. The pace is relaxed without rushing, and the experience is fantastic.
• The Qiankun Pillar in Yuanjiajie inspired the floating Hallelujah Mountain in the movie Avatar. These rare quartz sandstone peaks were formed by hundreds of millions of years of geological movement.
• Temperature varies greatly on the mountain, bring a light jacket. Wild monkeys may snatch food, do not hold snacks in your hands.
Day 2: Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park - Tianmen Cave
Set off early for Tianmen Mountain. Ride the long cable car up the mountain, walk on the west glass skywalk and the Guigu Cliff Trail, admire the cliff scenery up close and visit Tianmen Cave to feel the grandeur of this natural cave through the mountain. After sightseeing, the private car transfers us to the airport to finish our trip. We visited all core highlights and it was absolutely worthwhile.
• ianmen Cave is a natural through mountain cave. Ancient legends described mist pouring out from the cave, and it is the landmark of Tianmen Mountain.
• Shoe covers are required for the glass skywalk. The walkway becomes slippery on rainy days, please walk carefully.
Final Thoughts
• Mountain weather in Zhangjiajie changes quickly. Bring raincoats instead of umbrellas, as umbrellas carry safety risks during mountain thunderstorms.
• There is plenty of walking during mountain hikes. Wear non-slip, comfortable walking shoes.
• Goods on the mountain are relatively expensive; you may bring small amounts of drinking water and snacks.
• Sea of clouds cannot be guaranteed. The chance of seeing mist is higher in early mornings after rain.
