2. Daily Itinerary
Day 1: First time in Beijing: checking off the Imperial City's central axis.
After a long flight, we arrived safely in Beijing. This ancient capital is grand and expansive, where modern skyscrapers and classical architecture complement one another; the moment you step into the city, you can sense its rich historical atmosphere.
·After checking into our hotel, we arrived at Tiananmen Square; the vast expanse was solemn and majestic. Gazing at the distant buildings with their red walls and golden roofs, we were filled with anticipation for the tour of the Imperial City that lay ahead.
·At dusk, we ascended the Wanchun Pavilion in Jingshan Park and looked down upon the magnificent expanse of ancient architecture that makes up the Forbidden City. The setting sun cast its glow over the tiers of palace buildings, creating a breathtaking scene that left us with a profound first impression.

Day 2: Explore the Forbidden City and Delve into the Imperial History of the Ming and Qing Dynasties
We entered the Palace Museum early in the morning; with its red walls, yellow-tiled roofs, and sprawling halls, it preserves a magnificent complex of ancient imperial palaces.
·We strolled along the central axis, visiting key structures such as the Hall of Supreme Harmony and the Palace of Heavenly Purity; the majestic architecture everywhere reflects the protocols and aesthetics of the ancient imperial court. Listening to the tour guide recount the historical stories behind them, it felt as though we had been transported back centuries to the Ming and Qing dynasties.
·After touring the palaces, we strolled through the Imperial Garden, where towering ancient cypresses stood amidst a picturesque arrangement of pavilions and kiosks. We paused to rest in the tranquil surroundings, slowly savoring the unique, elegant charm of a classical Chinese garden.

Day 3: Scale the Badaling Great Wall and behold the magnificent expanse of the landscape.
On this day, we headed to the Badaling Great Wall; the world-renowned Great Wall snakes along the peaks of rolling mountains—majestic and imposing, stretching endlessly beyond the horizon.
·We walked slowly across the ancient bricks of the city wall, with rolling mountains stretching out beneath us. Touching the weathered masonry with my own hands, I felt a profound sense of awe at the magnificence of this ancient feat of engineering.
·Gazing into the distance from a high vantage point, the blue sky and white clouds blend seamlessly with the rolling, layered mountains. Only by personally ascending the Great Wall can one truly grasp the heroic spirit behind the saying, "One who fails to reach the Great Wall is not a true hero."

Day 4: Stroll through imperial gardens and experience the charm of old Beijing's hutongs.
In the morning, we visited the Summer Palace, a Qing Dynasty imperial garden where the lake and hills complement each other amidst stunning scenery. The Long Corridor features exquisitely painted details, the Seventeen-Arch Bridge spans the lake, and every step reveals a new vista, showcasing the ingenious artistry of the garden's design.
·In the afternoon, we wandered into the old *hutong* district of Beijing, where *siheyuan* (traditional courtyard houses) with grey bricks and tiles were scattered about, and the streets were quiet yet imbued with the authentic atmosphere of everyday life. As we strolled, we sampled local delicacies like *zhajiangmian* (noodles with soybean paste), savoring the genuine flavor of the neighborhood.
·As night falls, lights begin to dot the area around Shichahai, and a gentle evening breeze sweeps across the lake. With the day's bustle fading away, the old city’s unique, relaxed atmosphere—steeped in the rhythms of everyday life—evokes a sense of exceptional comfort and ease.

Day 5: Seeking the past at the Temple of Heaven—a perfect conclusion to the trip to the Imperial Capital.
On the final day, we visited the Temple of Heaven Park, once a sacred site where ancient emperors offered sacrifices and prayed for blessings. The Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests is exquisitely yet majestically designed, and the gnarled, ancient trees imbue the surroundings with a solemn, timeless atmosphere.
·We strolled along the ancient bluestone paths, admiring distinctive historic sites such as the Echo Wall and the Circular Mound Altar, while deeply appreciating the ancients' reverence for heaven and earth and their unique architectural wisdom.
·The five-day journey came to a swift conclusion; from majestic imperial monuments to the bustling, lived-in atmosphere of the city's *hutongs*, where tradition and modernity intertwine, Beijing’s rich and diverse charm has left an indelible impression on us.
