Day 2: Zhangjiajie National Forest Park: Exploring the Secret Realm of the "Avatar" Peaks

• We entered Zhangjiajie National Forest Park early in the morning; mist swirled amidst the mountains and forests, and lush greenery abounded—it felt as though we had stepped into a natural oxygen bar.

• We took the Bailong Elevator straight to the summit to visit the Yuanjiajie Scenic Area and see the Southern Sky Column—the inspiration for the floating Hallelujah Mountains in the movie *Avatar*—with our own eyes. Towering peaks of quartz sandstone rose dramatically from the ground, wreathed in mist and clouds, creating a scene reminiscent of an ethereal ink-wash painting.

• In the afternoon, we toured Tianzi Mountain and the Ten-Mile Gallery, where a succession of uniquely shaped stone peaks unfolded before us. We took a leisurely ride on the sightseeing train, admiring the extraordinary rock formations along the way, and found a stroll through the mountain woods to be incredibly relaxing and restorative.

Day 3: Tianmen Mountain: A breathtaking experience walking among the clouds.

• On this day, we headed to Tianmen Mountain—known as the "Number One Sacred Mountain in Western Hunan"—and boarded an exceptionally long alpine cable car that slowly ascended toward the clouds. As the city and surrounding mountains shrank beneath us, the experience of soaring through the air was truly breathtaking.

• We stepped onto the thrilling glass skywalk and the Guigu Cliffside Path, with swirling mists and sheer cliffs right beside us. As we carefully made our way forward, we admired the magnificent, sweeping vistas of the rolling mountains.

• We arrived at the magnificent Tianmen Cave, a colossal natural archway soaring high above the sheer cliff face. As the soft light of the setting sun bathed the mountain, the majestic spectacle inspired a sense of awe at the extraordinary craftsmanship of nature.

Day 4: Grand Canyon Glass Bridge, heading to Furong Ancient Town.

• Arriving at Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon in the morning, I stepped onto the renowned glass bridge. With the deep canyon stretching out beneath my feet and streams and waterfalls unfolding in the view below, the experience offered a thrilling sensation alongside the chance to fully admire the canyon's magnificent scenery.

• In the afternoon, we drove to Furong Town, an ancient settlement with a history spanning a thousand years that clings to the cliffs above a waterfall; it is a place of rustic charm and tranquility. Winding lanes paved with flagstones and stilt houses arranged in tiers along the cliff face imbue the town with the distinctive atmosphere of the Tujia culture.

• As night fell, the waterfall roared and cascaded, and the ancient town was illuminated by a myriad of lights. The interplay of flowing water, glowing lights, and historic buildings created a dreamlike nightscape that left a lasting impression on us.

Day 5: A leisurely tour of Fenghuang Ancient Town—a perfect conclusion to the journey through Western Hunan.

• On our final day, we took a leisurely stroll through the ancient town of Fenghuang. The Tuojiang River flows through the heart of the town, flanked by continuous rows of stilt houses, while the ancient bluestone streets exude a charming, old-world atmosphere.

• We crossed the Tuojiang River via the stepping stones, visited the Hongqiao Covered Bridge, browsed the small shops along the street, and soaked up the blended folk customs of the Miao and Tujia ethnic groups. With the gentle river breeze blowing, I felt completely at ease and relaxed.

• The five-day journey draws to a close; the majestic karst peaks, thrilling alpine experiences, and quaint ancient towns of Western Hunan blend together to create unforgettable memories.
