Traverse 600‑Years Imperial Capital:Private Beijing Journey

Sept202026

I come from Malaysia. For many years, my whole family has been fascinated by China’s long‑standing royal history. We have always wanted to set foot in Beijing, to see the grand imperial palaces, ancient city walls and world‑famous Great Wall in real life, instead of only watching them in documentaries. Finally we arranged this long‑awaited family trip.

Tip:If you need any help, you can contact the tour guide Kai I recommended. His WhatsApp number is +86 18907331470

1. Cost Guide

We originally planned a self‑guided trip. After calculating accommodation, attraction tickets and local private transport, our estimated budget was 4850 MYR for five people. After connecting with Kai, he customized our private itinerary, pre‑booked all hard‑to‑get attraction tickets and arranged a private car with an English‑speaking driver‑guide. The total cost came to 3960 MYR, saving us 890 MYR in total. Kai replied to our messages promptly before departure and freely adjusted our sightseeing pace according to our physical condition. Strongly recommend!

2. Daily Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Beijing ‑ Shichahai Hutong

Arrive at Beijing airport. Private transfer to our downtown hotel. After checking‑in and unpacking, we headed for Shichahai area in the late afternoon. We wandered old hutong lanes, saw traditional courtyard houses and enjoyed the relaxed old‑Beijing atmosphere by the lake.
·Shichahai was once a royal water garden during the Yuan and Ming dynasties.
·Wear comfortable shoes; hutong lanes involve plenty of walking.

Day 2: Tiananmen Square ‑ The Palace Museum ‑ Jingshan Park

We got up early in the morning. We visited Tiananmen Square first, then entered the Palace Museum. Kai shared many vivid royal stories behind palaces and halls. After finishing the museum tour, we climbed Jingshan Park and overlooked the full panoramic view of the Forbidden City.
·The Palace Museum served as imperial palace for 24 emperors of Ming and Qing dynasties.
·The Palace Museum tickets sell out fast; advance reservation is absolutely required.

Day 3: Mutianyu Great Wall ‑ Olympic Park (Bird’s Nest & Water Cube)

We set off early for Mutianyu Great Wall. We took the cable car up the mountain, walked along the well‑preserved ancient ramparts and admired the spectacular mountain scenery. In late afternoon we headed to Olympic Park to view the iconic modern stadium buildings at nightfall.
·Mutianyu Great Wall has less crowds compared with Badaling and keeps original wall features well.
·The temperature drops noticeably on the Great Wall; bring a light wind‑proof jacket.

Day 4: Summer Palace ‑ Old Summer Palace

We spent the whole day exploring royal garden sites. In the morning we visited Summer Palace, strolled along the Long Corridor and enjoyed Kunming Lake view. In the afternoon we visited Old Summer Palace, where we saw historical relic ruins and learned its past history.
·The Summer Palace is China’s largest and best‑preserved existing royal garden.
·Prepare drinking water, there are long walking distances inside both garden parks.

Later we strolled Qianmen old street, tasted local snacks and picked souvenirs. Afterwards our private car transferred us to the airport for departure.
·The Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests is an outstanding masterpiece of ancient Chinese wooden architecture.
·Visit Temple of Heaven in the morning for better light and fewer tourist crowds.

3. Experience with Guide Kai

• Special thanks to our tour guide Kai for his professionalism, meticulousness, and engaging explanations throughout the trip, which helped us understand Beijing rich history and culture spanning hundreds of years.

• Before our arrival, Kai arranged the whole route according to our travel rhythm, reserved all hard‑to‑get tickets and arranged a clean private vehicle with an experienced English‑speaking driver‑guide. We did not need to worry about complicated ticketing or transfer issues.

• Compared with rigid group tours online, Kai’s tailor‑made private tour fits us perfectly. We saved both money and time, and we could sightsee at our own relaxed speed.
• Many overseas visitors coming to Beijing ask Kai for itinerary planning and ticket booking. It is cost‑effective and enjoyable, and you may even meet new friends on the trip.

4. Personal Suggestion

• Do not spend too much time reading massive copied travel guides online. Most of them repeat the same information and may mislead first‑time visitors.

• My recommendation: Find a reliable local guide and let him arrange your whole trip. It helps you save both money and energy for your journey.

• Personal feeling: Excellent value for money. We could move freely during sightseeing, no forced shopping or hidden extra charges at all.

• Gratitude: I am truly thankful to Kai for arranging everything throughout our Beijing trip. My family and I had an unforgettable experience, so I am happy to share this recommendation for Kai.
