Classic Beijing Private Sightseeing Tour: Explore Imperial Heritage
My family and I have long dreamed of visiting Beijing, the ancient capital of China, home to countless imperial relics and time-honored culture. After comparing dozens of travel packages online, we booked this private tour planned by Kai. It turned out to be a wonderful trip beyond our expectations.

1. Cost Guide
We originally planned to travel independently around Beijing. After calculating accommodation, attraction tickets and local transport, our estimated budget was 4600 USD for five of us. After connecting with Kai, he customized our private itinerary, pre-booked all attraction tickets and arranged a private car with an English-speaking driver-guide. The total cost came to 3680 USD, saving us 920 USD in total. Kai replied to our messages promptly before departure and freely adjusted our sightseeing pace according to our preferences. Day 1: Tiananmen Square - The Palace Museum - Jingshan Park (English-speaking driver-guide included)
We set off early with our English-speaking driver-guide. We first visited Tiananmen Square, the iconic heart of Beijing. Then we entered the Palace Museum, also known as the Forbidden City. While wandering among magnificent ancient palaces, our guide shared vivid royal stories and lesser-known historical tales. After finishing the palace tour, we climbed up Jingshan Park. Standing on the peak, we enjoyed the breathtaking full view of the Forbidden City, where endless golden roofs stretched far into the distance.
• All the roof tiles of the Forbidden City were specially handmade in ancient times. Their glaze can reflect sunlight, turning the whole palace complex into a golden city when viewed from the hilltop.
• Arrive early to avoid large crowds and get better photos of the grand palace buildings.
Day 2: Summer Palace - Old Summer Palace (English-speaking driver-guide included)
Our second day was dedicated to imperial gardens. We arrived at the Summer Palace in the morning. We wandered along the famous Long Corridor, admired the huge Kunming Lake and elegant pavilions, and felt the charm of the royal summer retreat. In the afternoon, we visited the Old Summer Palace. Standing among the historic ruins, we felt the heavy weight of history. Our guide explained the past glory and stories of this grand garden.
•The paintings on the Long Corridor include over 14,000 scenes from Chinese legends and history.
• Wear comfortable walking shoes, there is lots of strolling around the garden sites.

Day 3: Temple of Heaven - Lama Temple (English-speaking driver-guide included)
On the final day, we headed to the Temple of Heaven first. This stunning architectural complex was where emperors prayed for good harvests. The circular Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests left us deeply amazed by ancient Chinese wisdom and aesthetics. Later we visited Lama Temple, a peaceful Tibetan Buddhist temple with splendid buildings and aromatic incense. It was a quiet and spiritual end to our Beijing journey.
• The Echo Wall at Temple of Heaven works surprisingly well. Whisper on one end, your family can hear clearly from the other side.
• It’s better to visit Lama Temple in the morning when the incense smoke is lighter.
Experience with Guide Kai
I kept in touch with Kai for around two weeks before our trip. He was always responsive, patient and never pushy when discussing our travel plans.
Before our arrival, Kai arranged the whole route according to our travel rhythm, reserved all hard-to-get tickets and arranged a clean private vehicle with an experienced English-speaking driver-guide. We did not need to worry about complicated ticketing or transfer issues.
Compared with rigid group tours online, Kai’s tailor-made private tour fits us perfectly. We saved both money and time, and we could sightsee at our own relaxed speed.
Many overseas visitors coming to Beijing ask Kai for itinerary planning and ticket booking. It is cost-effective and enjoyable, and you may even meet new friends on the trip.
Personal Suggestio
Do not spend too much time reading massive copied travel guides online. Most of them repeat the same information and may mislead first-time visitors.
My recommendation: Find a reliable local guide and let him arrange your whole trip. It helps you save both money and energy for your journey.
Personal feeling: Excellent value for money. We could move freely during sightseeing, no forced shopping or hidden extra charges at all.
Gratitude: I am truly thankful to Kai for arranging everything throughout our Beijing trip. My family and I had an unforgettable experience, so I am happy to share this recommendation for Kai.
